I’m so fortunate to have the opportunity to review and try a number of cannabis products that are either coming to market or already available but not necessarily household names yet. Most of the time, these are packed with visuals and I can show before and after, or mishaps with mechanics at times. When it comes to reviewing and testing ingestibles it requires a different approach – after all, if I eat a gummy there’s no indicator visually either before or after (unless it’s SUPER potent and unexpected) except for my own face and that’s not serving a purpose that benefits anyone.
Recently, I was sent a product that is a supplement and I went into it with the same purpose as any product review – try the product, report on the findings, and share.
It was critically important that I keep copious notes over time because supplements can take up to 6 weeks in some cases to acclimate to your body and your ECS in particular.
Theralogix is a nutritional science company, in business since 2002. They focus on health and wellness products for sexual health, mental health, and overall nutritional guidance products. The company requested a review for TheraHemp™ Broad-Spectrum Hemp Oil Supplement, and included an additional product to try alongside – Canabrex® Endocannabinoid Supplement. Canabrex® is billed as a supplemental PEA (palmitoylethanolamide), which is considered part of the cannabinoid family but is not from cannabis. PEA is found naturally in certain foods and produced in your body. Canabrex has been formulated to promote immune and sleep health and maintain healthy nerves and joints throughout the body. I tried both and used them until I ran out.
Let’s take a moment to remind ourselves that hemp oil comes from seeds typically, while CBD oil usually comes from the plant itself. Hemp oil supplements are typically marketed as broad spectrum but good for overall health and well-being. I began my regimen with 1 tablet each morning as directed on the label. Simultaneously, I began the use of Canabrex® – two per day, with expected results after up to 8 weeks.
As we age, it becomes increasingly apparent to us that we have mortality and I’m no exception, so while I don’t rush out to load up on supplements, I’ve reached that point in time where I’ll try something to see if the claims are accurate and if it brings value or positive change to me, it’s a repeat buy in my book. For the first 2 weeks on the supplements from TheraLogix, there were subtle changes in my skin, but we can never say it’s strictly one element that could cause those results, changes in weather, diet, even routine can impact our bodies differently.
With a history of longtime sleep disorders, to hope that these products could help with sleep honestly didn’t even enter my mind. Thus far, only my beloved medical cannabis can help my sleep adequately. Like many, I also have plenty of other issues that could be healthier, and digestive issues plague so many now, several as a result of anxiety, to which I’m again, no exception to the rule.
At 4 weeks on both supplements, I found that my sleep had started a subtle shift – it was easier to relax when bedtime came and I was less likely to be tired to such an extent during a 12-hour workday. At 6 weeks, my digestive issues were more manageable than they have been in the past 2 years. When my supply was exhausted, it became clear that the supplements were doing plenty of good things for my ECS and body functions that I wasn’t even aware of – once I stopped taking them, the validity of what they were doing for me was clearer than ever.
Let’s be clear – you won’t wake up each morning and jump out of bed eager to start the day as a result of taking these. You won’t find instant gratification or cure cancer as a result of taking these. Could you find it easier to stay calm, over time, in the face of stress? Perhaps. Could your sleeping be impacted in a positive way? For me, yes. Digestion issues resolved? For me, this was the best effect that I saw regularly.
Are these supplements for everyone? No, but no supplement is for everyone. For overall well-being and potential resolution or relief of existing conditions, give this a try. We’d love to know your thoughts and your experience with them.
